Learning Spells
Spells always play an important role in most RPGs and SLGs, and here we want to refresh you on the basics of learning spells.
You can learn four Star level 1 spells (Bloodlust, Bless, Curse and Weakness) from the novice spell tutor, Melina. You will master the Star Level 1 spell "Magic Arrow" automatically, when you speak with her for the first time. Other spells can be learned from the Magic Shrines in many quests. Open your spell book by pressing the "C" button, then hover your pointer on the spell icon and you will see the requirements of learning that spell. Make sure to pay close attention, because if you complete the quest without visiting the magic shrine, you won't learn the spell.
The Scholar decides whether or not you can learn the spell, so you need to learn and upgrade it in order to become a spell master. When your spell proficiency and Scholar meet the upgrade requirements, you can upgrade your spell's Star Level by visiting the magic shrines, the same way as you can learn a new spell in one shrine.
You will improve your spell proficiency by casting this spell. Also, you can use Erathium to do it, by clicking the button right below the spell icon. You can earn a 20% proficiency bonus, every time. (You should have enough Erathium, though). Another way to improve is the training ground. Find the trainer, Gates, to begin your training.
In a fight, when it comes to your turn, you can click the spell book icon or just press the "C" button, to choose a spell and click to confirm. Some spells will require you to designate your target, by clicking on the enemy. You can only cast one spell in one turn, so make your choices wisely!
You can have a look at the requirements for learning all of the spells inside the spell book.
